Universal Epic Universe announces summer 2025 opening date
With each new piece of information Universal Orlando reveals about its newest park, it becomes increasingly clear that Universal Epic Universe will redefine the theme park experience.
Four of the park’s five themed lands have attractions, characters and experiences based on popular films and games, including “Harry Potter,” Universal Classic Monsters, “How to Train Your Dragon,” and Nintendo heroes like Mario, Luigi and Donkey Kong. The fifth land, Celestial Park, serves as the entrance to the 750-acre theme park, with portals that lead to the other four lands.
Of course, themed lands and attractions are nothing new in the theme park world, but, Epic Universe promises innovative rides, interactive experiences and relaxing green spaces at a level never seen before.
Think real flying dragons in the “How to Train Your Dragon” land, competing in a real-life Mario Kart race inside Super Nintendo World and a roller coaster with such realistic Universal Classic Monster animatronics you might think you are in a real horror movie.
Universal has slowly shared information about each new land coming to Epic Universe over the past eight months, leaving only one question on everyone’s mind — when will the park open so we can fly with dragons, ride with Mario and fend off monsters?
On Thursday, Universal announced that Epic Universe will open on May 22, 2025. Although technically spring, the period around Memorial Day marks the unofficial start to summer for travelers.The opening comes just in time for those clamoring to be first through the gates to visit during their summer vacation.

Universal also announced that Epic Universe tickets and reservations for the Universal Helios Grand Hotel will go on sale on October 22, 2024.
Although Epic Universe is located about 3 miles down the road from Universal Orlando’s other two parks, transportation will be available between all three Universal theme parks and all of Universal’s hotels, including the three new hotels coming to Epic Universe.
