A new Kimpton secret password to unlock bonus treats this winter

Kimpton is back with its secret password, and let’s just say it’s giving.
In case you missed it, a few times per year, IHG’s most social and playful brand issues a secret password for guests to earn freebies during their hotel stays. All you have to do is say the secret password “It’s giving” during Kimpton stays between Nov. 1, 2024, and Jan. 31, 2025.
Saying those magic words can unlock all kinds of complimentary goodies, such as a round of botanical cocktails, an in-room movie or a room upgrade. TPG readers and staff have previously used Kimpton’s secret passwords to win cool prizes, such as free bottles of wine and snacks.
This year, guests at Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel in Portland will receive Pendleton Woolen Mills socks, and those at Kimpton Canary will get a vintage-style mug with hot chocolate fixings and Cutler’s Artisan Spirits, per a Kimpton spokesperson.
Previous Kimpton social password prizes have included free:
- Parking
- Branded coffee mug
- Two drinks at the on-site bar
- Doubled “Raid the Bar” credit
- Room upgrade
- $30 dining credit
- Breakfast vouchers
- Hot chocolate kit
- Free IHG One Rewards points

Anyone can use the secret password. IHG One Rewards Platinum and Diamond Elite members can also use the Raid the Bar benefit. With it, Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite members receive a $10 and $20 credit, respectively, for use in the Kimpton in-room minibar, hotel bar or restaurant.
If you don’t have status with IHG and are looking for a quick way to get there while earning points to plan your next Kimpton stay, consider applying for the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card. With this card, you’ll earn 140,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening.
