United credit card promotion (targeted): Earn bonus miles or bonus PQPs
Attention, United Airlines cardholders: There is a new targeted promotion that will allow MileagePlus members holding a cobranded credit card the chance to earn bonus miles or bonus Premier qualifying points after meeting certain spending requirements on their credit cards.
United and Chase’s “Rewards Your Way” offer is available to select cardholders. So, if you’re eligible, be sure to log in, register and select the bonus you’d like to earn by June 15. This promotion is in addition to the bonus miles and/or PQPs you’re already earning when using your card.
Bonus options vary based on the card, and all spending requirements are to be met by June 30.

For example, TPG’s managing editor of aviation, Ben Mutzabaugh, holds the United Quest℠ Card. He received an offer to earn up to 26,400 bonus miles or up to 1,320 PQPs after spending a minimum of $11,000 on his credit card by June 30. This is the maximum number of bonus miles or PQPs he can earn; he could opt for a lower reward with a smaller spending requirement.
Senior cruise writer Ashley Kosciolek holds the United Club℠ Infinite Card and received the offer to earn up to 44,000 bonus miles or up to 2,200 bonus PQPs after spending $22,000 on her card by June 30.
Senior aviation business reporter David Slotnick currently holds the United℠ Explorer Card and received the following offer: Earn up to 7,500 bonus miles or up to 375 bonus PQPs after spending at least $2,500 on your card.
However, TPG’s managing editor for credit cards, Matt Moffitt, holds the United Gateway℠ Card and was not targeted for this promotion.
Those eligible for this bonus promotion must meet the spending requirements by June 30. According to United’s website, you should see bonus miles or bonus PQPs in your account in six to eight weeks after meeting the required spending amount on your card.

For those seeking United elite status through mostly credit card spending, opting to earn bonus PQPs could be the most beneficial; this is because you’ll earn these bonus PQPs in addition to the PQPs you already earn from spending. For example, if TPG’s senior cruise writer decided to opt to receive 2,200 bonus PQPs after spending $22,000 on her United Club Infinite Card, that card already earns 25 PQPs per $500 spent (up to 10,000 PQPs in a calendar year). Therefore, she would receive 1,100 PQPs from regular spending on her card as well as 2,200 bonus PQPs if she registered for this promotion.

If you don’t favor obtaining Premier status, opting for bonus miles is an easy way to boost your MileagePlus balance to redeem for flights. We don’t think MileagePlus members should actively go out of their way to chase this current promotion. However, it’s an easy way to boost your miles or PQP balance if you’re targeted for this promotion and plan to swipe your United credit card in the next three months.
